My own product, 2026 – present
TaxFiler AI: online tax filing for Pakistan
An AI-assisted platform for filing Pakistani income tax returns: self-filing with a guided wizard, or hand it to a human tax advisor. Seven apps in one Nx monorepo, built and run by me.

Context
Salaried people in Pakistan have to file an annual return with the FBR, and the official IRIS portal is hard to use. TaxFiler AI lets them file in minutes, either themselves or with a tax advisor who reviews every return.
My role
Founder and sole engineer: product, architecture, frontend, backend, infrastructure and marketing.
What I did
- Structured the product as an Nx monorepo with seven apps (customer app, advisor portal, admin, public site, API, CMS and a marketing dashboard) sharing ten libraries, including the tax calculator and UI kit.
- Built the frontends in Angular 21 with Tailwind. The public site is server-rendered for search, with tax calculators, a learning hub and a glossary.
- Wrote the API in NestJS with TypeORM and PostgreSQL, split into around fifteen domain modules.
- Used Claude to read salary slips and ID cards, so users upload a document instead of typing figures.
- Integrated local payments (Safepay, JazzCash, Easypaisa and bank transfer) behind one provider interface, plus login by email or WhatsApp.
- Set up CI that tests only the affected apps, Playwright end-to-end tests per app, Lighthouse checks, Sentry and PostHog.
Outcome
- Live at taxfiler.ai for the 2026 filing season.
- Over 1,000 commits in seven months, with around 270 test files.
